Pearl Box - please identify what it is

The box is 10cm high, 8cm wide and 1cm deep. It is covered in diamond shaped pearl on both sides with ivory around the edges. It opens to a faded red baize interior with a slot about 3mm wide. My only guess is that it held a mirror. Any ideas please?
