The Walker-Gordon dairy farm and laboratory was an innovator of dairy efficiency and sterile, safe production practices. "Modified" cow's milk was reconstituted whole milk with the addition of sugars and protein. Initially founded in Boston, Mass., in 1897 Walker-Gordon purchased land in Plainsboro, New Jersey to establish a working dairy farm, gradually adding more farms in other states to sell and distribute raw milk.

The Borden Company purchased Walker-Gordon.
