I am trying to find the pattern name and info on a set of china I have.  It says Virginia Rose on the back but there must be another name for it.  This one has clusters of cherries hanging from a branch around the outside edge, all in 22 KT Gold.  In the center is a man and woman, similar to items labeled as George and Martha Washington.  The man is semi bowing to a lady dressed in blue, holding a fan.  I have a berry bowl with the individual dishes, a cake plate, smaller platter, sugar and creamer, plates and a spoon and cake server.  It is in beautiful condition and I would like to know more about it.

just to try to help you out "virginia rose" is not the pattern or floral print "virginia rose " refers to the shape of the plate they made hundreds of different decals for these pieces. this is very interesting, i myself, have several hundred pieces of laughlin and still tryintg to get it catagorized. if i can help with your quest don't be afraid to ask. i learn something new everyday, and ever auction. good luck and have fun collecting

The previous poster is correct on the shape name.

There was sssssooooo much HL china produced that much of it was not given a name. Also the same decals were used on other shapes. I have yet to find a good reference book on HL china and the patterns. I actually have one book where the author is making up her own names for patterns.... shame shame.

If you could post a photo that would help us.

the book "homer laughlin, decades of dinnerware" is a pretty good reference for shapes decals and history of the company. they too can't reference all designs by name but they do have photos of several hundred of them that can help you match your pieces by shape and decal. each chapter on shape will also show a plate of the pieces made in that shape and what is known to exist. i do know this is not always accurate they may say a particular piece hasn't been found but many iv'e seen or may even own. hope i was of some help.
