Dresden  is a city in Germany. Much like Limoges is a city in France.

There are a large number of potteries in the area, each with their own mark, many of which have the name Dresden as part of the mark and many also have a crown in the mark as well.

There is also an American  pottery that used Dresden in their mark; Potters Cooperative of East Liverpool, Ohio.

I will post a more detailed history on my website and I will try to get some marks to identify the factories.

One question I get is "Is it authentic Dresden?" Yes, it is Dresden. Is it Meissen? That depends on the mark and do you have a Meissen mark.

There are quite a few books specific to Dresden and Meissen that might help you with your questions on these marks.
