I have a set of dishes from my grandfather.   Attached is a photo of the mark on the bottom, which states "Elsa" and, I believe, it says "Austria", and also a photo of the entire set that I have.  All I know, or have been told, is that entire set was purchases in 1909 for $11.00 or purchased in 1911 for $9.00.

Anybody have any ideas what this is worth, or where I can check into this set of dishes.

Thanks so much.

It's hard to tell since there is no image of this mark with your entry.  However, if it also has a small flower (looks like a 4-leaf clover) and reads GES. GESCHUTZT below "ELSA", then it was most likely made MERKELSGRUN PORCELAIN FACTORY (Merkelsgrun, Bohemia  - now Merklin, Czech Republic).  This mark was in use ca 1912 - ca 1917.

You can find this and thousands more marks through our services at www.Marks4Antiques.com
