Wooden Carving - Carry Case ?

Please help.....I have no idea where this is from....what it is...or if it is worth anything....any information would be greatfully received.
The pic I have uploaded shows you the inside....it has hinges in the middle,so it can close like a carry case ? with carved out wooden handles....I was thinking it could be some sort of games case...It's heaving carved on the other side,and the item is very heavy.

It looks like it is wood and I do believe that it is some kind of game probably played with marbles or stones.
