I have a set of about 85 pieces of antique china that I'm looking to learn more about.  On the back is a red circular marking that reads "J.C.L Harms Hamburg."  The pieces are white with green and gold around the rim and the letter "K" in a sort of ribbon design.  Most pieces are in good condition, although some have minor chips or fading of the detail.  I have not been able to find any information about this manufacturer or the pieces themselves.  I know very little about them or their age, other than they were purchased and brought over from Germany.  I am interested in selling them, so I would also like to know what they may be worth.  Thank you!

The J.C.L. Harms mark was a decorating firm that was in operation from about 1880 - the early 1950's. The maker of the porcelain could be any European company in operation during that time.

As for a price, it is pretty and some people are not bothered by an initial on pieces. A complete set of any type of dinnerware is hard to sell as most people are looking to replace pieces for an existing set.

If you want to sell it I would place a retail price of $250-$350 on it if you are selling in an antique shop. If selling through an online auction I would put a reserve of $80-$100 and you should be able to sell it in that price range.

Most dealer's sell dinnerware by the piece since it is so hard to sell a complete set.
