I have a small oval dish, about two inches deep, centre and part of side is an unusual purplish colour and there is about an inch below the rim which is a black and white chequerboard pattern. The dish has fluted sides. Only mark on the back is a handpainted "M"and what looks like 047. Any ideas?  Huh

Pictures help, use a high-res camera to capture back stamp.  I have found that scanning the backstamp sometimes is better if there is flash issues
