ls this a Meissen china sweet potato ocarina in the blue onion pattern? l've asked several dealers in my town and no one has any idea what it is! lt measures 6 1/4" long, 2 1/2" at the longest part.There are 8 holes on one side and 3 on the other. Thanks for your help! Shirley

Hi,
It's for making lace, 'bobbin'.  My Portuguese mother-in-law has one similar.  It's for difficult patterns, she's made lace for decades, made alot of money doing it.
